Elevated to the diocese of Galveston on May 4, May 4, 1847 as a suffragan of New Orleans. Its name was changed to the diocese of Galveston-Houston on July 25, 1959. Elevated to an archdiocese on December 29, 2004. Suffragen dioceses include
