Theologian, born Ain, France, 1607; died Rome, Italy, 1688. Entering the Society of Jesus at Avignon, he distinguished himself by his extraordinary work in mathematics and physics. After teaching 14 years in the Jesuit College at Lyons, he was theologian of the papal penitentiary for 30 years. His works deal with philosophy, mathematics, physics, and astronomy. He discovered the circulation of the blood independently of Harvey.
