Jesuit missionary, born Lyons, France, 1574; died Sillery, Canada, 1646. He was one of the first Jesuits sent to New France, established a mission at Bar Harbor, Maine, made three journeys to America, and labored among the Indians at Sillery from 1632 until his death.
