Oratorian and poet, born Yately, Hampshire, England, 1814; died Birmingham, England, 1878. He received Anglican Orders, 1839, but coming under the influence of Newman, he resigned his curacy, 1847, and was received into the Catholic Church. After the death of his wife he became an Oratorian. His works include manuals of devotion, Lyra Catholica, and The Masque of Mary and other Poems.
