Fifeshire, Scotland; founded by King Malcolm Canmore and his queen, Margaret, c.1070;remodelled as a Benedictine abbey by David I. Burnt by Edward I of England, 1304, and afterwards restored, it became the burial place of the kings; destroyed, 1560, by the Reformers; the ruins are now Crown property. Birthplace of Andrew Carnegie.
