July 15, in commemoration of the missionary work of the Twelve Apostles. It was first mentioned in the 11th century and was celebrated in the northern countries of Europe during the Middle Ages. It is now observed in Germany, Poland, and some dioceses of England and France, and in the United States in the ecclesiastical provinces of Saint Louis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Dubuque, and Santa Fe.
