Born from 422 to 432. Died in Rome. He was a Roman and a friend of Augustine. Defended the Church against the Semi-pelagian heresy. He excommunicated Nestorius, strengthened the Faith in outlying provinces, brought about the testimonial of devotion shown to Our Lady of Ephesus, and sent Saint Palladius and Saint Patrick to preach the Gospel to Ireland.
