A religious educational institute founded at Lyons, France, 1821, by Reverend Andre Coindre. Its constitutions modeled upon those of Saint Ignatius based on the Rule of Saint Augustine, bind the members to the teaching of boys in asylums, parochial and select schools, and commercial colleges. The superior-general, chosen from among the Brothers, resides at Renteria, Spain. Statistics: about 1,620 members and 137 colleges and schools in France, Belgium, Spain, the United States, and Canada.
