(Latin: accommodate, to adapt)
The application of biblical words, because of some similarity or analogy, to that which was not intended by the author. The words, "O all ye that pass by the way, attend, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow" (Lamentations 1), are spoken of Jerusalem personified, but may be accommodated by extension to any soul in extreme grief. An accommodation is not the sense of the text and is not a proof from Scripture.
