(Greek and Latin name for the Hebrew Aramaic, Belshazzar; Babylonian, Belshazzar, "Bel protect the king") According to the Bible the son of Nabuchodonosor, and the last king of Babylon. While he was giving a banquet a mysterious hand wrote on the wall the words, Mane, Thecel, Phares, interpreted by Daniel as:

God hath numbered thy kingdom and hath finished it; thou art weighed in the balance and art found wanting; thy kingdom is divided and is given to the Medes and Persians. (Daniel 5)
