Benedictine abbey, located in southwestern Western Australia, founded, 1846, for the Christianization of the aborigines. Established as an abbey nullius and prefecture Apostolic, 1867; suffragan of Perth. Dom Rudesindus Salvado (died 1900) founded the mission. See also the abbey's web site.
