The first Premonstratensian abbey in England, founded, 1143, by Peter de Gousel with monks from Liegues Abbey near Calais, France. From it were founded Premonstratensian abbeys at Alnwick, Barlings, Bileigh, Coverham, Croxton, Dale, Saint Agatha's, Newbo, and Sulby, all in England. It was confiscated by Henry VIII.
