ZARETHAN ( Joshua 3:13 , 1 Kings 4:12; 1 Kings 7:46 ). Three readings of this name appear, the other two being Zeredah ( 1 Kings 11:26 , 2 Chronicles 4:17 ) and Zererah ( Judges 7:22 ). It is probable that all three names refer to the same place, and that it must be sought near a ford of the Jordan on the W. side. The most probable spot is near the Jisr ed-Damieh at the junction of the Jabbok and the Jordan.
