Second son of Aaron ( Exodus 6:23 , Numbers 3:2; Numbers 26:60 , 1 Chronicles 6:3; 1 Chronicles 24:1 ); accompanied Moses to the top of Sinai ( Exodus 24:1; Exodus 24:9 ); admitted to the priest’s office ( Exodus 28:1 ); slain along with his brother Nadab for offering strange fire ( Leviticus 10:1-2 , Numbers 3:4; Numbers 26:61 , 1 Chronicles 24:2 ).
