(nay' dab) Personal name meaning, “willing” or “liberal.” 1. Aaron's eldest son (Exodus 6:23; Numbers 3:2; 1 Chronicles 6:3 ), who participated in the ratification of the covenant (Exodus 24:1 ,Exodus 24:1,24:9 ), served as a priest (Exodus 28:1 ), and was consumed by fire along with his brother Abihu for offering unholy fire before the Lord (Leviticus 10:1-7; Numbers 26:61 ). Nadab died childless (Numbers 3:4; 1 Chronicles 24:2 ). 2 . Descendant of Judah and Tamar (1Chronicles 2:28,1 Chronicles 2:30 ). 3 . Descendant of Benjamin and great-uncle of Saul (1 Chronicles 8:30; 1 Chronicles 9:36).4 . Son of Rehoboam (1 Kings 14:20 ) and idolatrous king of Israel (901-900 B.C.). Baasha assassinated him during a seige of the Philistine city of Gibbethon (1 Kings 15:25-28 ). The extermination of the family of Jeroboam (1 Kings 15:29 ) was seen as fulfillment of the Ahijah's prophesy (1 Kings 14:10-11 ).
