Translation of several Hebrew and Greek terms with a combined range of meaning including subterranean water, fog, and clouds. The KJV frequently has vapor(s) where modern translations have mist. The mist of Genesis 2:6 refers to subterranean waters welling up and watering the ground. In Job 36:27 rain distills from the mist or fog rising from the earth. Mist often appears as a symbol for something which quickly passes away ( Isaiah 44:22; Hosea 13:3; James 4:14; 2 Peter 2:17 ).
