(lay' ihssh uh) Place name meaning “lioness” or “towards “Laish.” City on military route from Bethel to Jerusalem which Isaiah warned of Assyrian army's approach (Isaiah 10:30 ). It may be modern el-Esawijeh southwest of Anathoth or ras et-Tawil south of Geba. See Laish .
