Green chalcedony. Jasper commonly translates two Hebrew and one Greek term. The first term is used for the sixth stone in the headdress of the king of Tyre (Ezekiel 28:13 ). The second term is used for a stone in the high priest's breastplate (Exodus 28:20; Exodus 39:13 ). This second term is rendered onyx at Ezekiel 28:13 . The third term describes the face of the One seated on the throne (Revelation 4:3 ) and the glory of the new Jerusalem (Revelation 21:11 ,Revelation 21:11,21:18-19 ). The NIV used jasper to translate an obscure Hebrew term at Job 28:18 . Other translation options include: alabaster (REB), crystal (NAS, NRSV, TEV), and pearls (KJV). See Minerals and Metals .
