(ee' sshan) Place name meaning, “I lean on.” Town in the hill country of Judah assigned to tribe of Judah (Joshua 15:52 ). KJV spells Eshean. A text tradition in the earliest Greek translation reads, “Soma,” instead of Eshan, possibly pointing to a location at modern khirbet hallat Sama. Otherwise, the location is not known.
