A thrusting or throwing weapon used for medium range combat either similar to a spear or javelin (2 Samuel 18:14 ) or else an arrow (Proverbs 7:23; Ephesians 6:16 ). The use of flaming arrows (Psalm 7:13; Psalm 120:4 ) becomes in Ephesians 6:16 a picture of the assault of the evil one on believers. KJV uses darts to translate two different Hebrew words, the first meaning “stick” or “staff” and the second, “arrows.”
