Probably to be identified with a site near Jericho where the Kenites lived (Judges 1:16; see Deuteronomy 34:3; Judges 3:13; 2 Chronicles 28:15 ). Jericho itself lay in ruins from the time of the conquest until the time of Ahab. See Jericho . Some identify the region with Zoar on the south side of the Dead Sea or with Tamar about twenty miles south of the Dead Sea.
