Often used to describe the territory on the east side of the Jordan river (also referred to as the Transjordan). Five times the phrase describes the territory on the west side of the Jordan (Genesis 50:10-11; Deuteronomy 3:20 ,Deuteronomy 3:20,3:25; Deuteronomy 11:30 ).
