Any of an order (Chrioptera ) of nocturnal placental flying mammals with forelimbs modified to form wings. Listed among the unclean birds (Leviticus 11:19; Deuteronomy 14:18 ). According to Isaiah 2:20 , they are creatures found in dark caves where idols were to be thrown.
