Holman Bible Dictionary
are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet and are used in Revelation to describe God or Christ (Revelation 1:8
; Revelation 21:6
; Revelation 22:13
.) “Alpha and omega” refers to God's sovereignty and eternal nature. God and Christ are “the beginning and the end, the first and last.” (Revelation 22:13
). Thus they control all history and all humans of all generations.
