"the city of Arba" the Anakite (Genesis 13:18; Genesis 23:2; Joshua 14:15; Joshua 15:54; Joshua 20:7; Joshua 21:11; Nehemiah 11:25). Hebron was the original name, then Mamre ("the sacred grove near the town"), then Kirjath Caleb restored the name Hebron. (See HEBRON.)
