The Elkosh E. of Tigris, and N. of Mosul, believed by Jewish pilgrims to be Nahum's birthplace and burial place, is less probable, as his prophecies show only a general acquaintance with Assyria but a particular knowledge of Palestine (Nahum 1:4; Nahum 2:4-6; Nahum 3:2-3).
