The word ‘incarnation’ is commonly used to denote the truth that God became a human being in the person of Jesus Christ. The word itself is not found in the Bible, but comes from a Latin word meaning ‘in flesh’. In relation to Jesus it means that, in him, God took a bodily form (John 1:14; 1 Timothy 3:16). (For details see JESUS CHRIST, sub-heading ‘God in human form’.)
