Wesley's Explanatory NotesWesley's Notes

Verse 1

Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.

Name — By thy own strength.

Judge — Plead my cause.

Verse 3

For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. /*Selah*/.

Strangers — The Zephites, whom, though Israelites, he calls strangers in regard of their barbarous and perfidious carriage.

He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.
