Verses 1-29
2 Kings 14:2 . His mother’s name was Jehoaddan. The mothers of the kings of Judah are mostly mentioned by name, but those of the kings of Israel are seldom named so expressly; for the kings of Israel were not regarded as equal in honour to the kings of Judah.
2 Kings 14:6 . The children of the regicides he slew not. This is mentioned as a virtue in his character, for in that age, and even in the old Spanish histories, vengeance was often extended to the children. The history of these events being more copiously related in 2 Chronicles 26. 27. 28., the reader is referred to those records.
