Everett's Study Notes on the Holy ScripturesEverett's Study Notes

Verses 1-16

Micah 6:5 O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.

Micah 6:5 “from Shittim unto Gilgal” Comments - Shittim was a place where Israel encamped just before just before crossing Jordan (Joshua 3:1). Gilgal was the place where Israel first encamped after crossing Jordan (Joshua 4:19).

Joshua 3:1, “And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.”

Joshua 4:19, “And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.”
