Leviticus 2

Everett's Study Notes on the Holy ScripturesEverett's Study Notes

Verses 1-16

Leviticus 2:2 And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD:

Leviticus 2:2 Comments - The priest takes a handful of this grain offering, called the memorial portion (Leviticus 2:9) and sacrifices it on the brazen altar. The priest is able to keep the remaining portion of the sacrifice for himself. Note that the size of this offering is not mentioned in the Law. This is because God allowed each person to give according to his own measure of faith.

Leviticus 2:13 And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.

Leviticus 2:13 “with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt” - Comments - Salt represented fire, and fire represents judgment (Mark 9:49).

Mark 9:49, “For every one shall be salted with fire , and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.”
