See Topic Notes "Sermons_Gann" for the sermon
LOVE – The Greatest of These -- .
Verse 2
And though I have the gift of prophecy -- for uttering the truth of God by inspiration. Matthew 7:22
and understand all mysteries -- Something hidden, or unknown before which is made known. 1) Used to speaked of God’s scheme for the church; 2) Used for the way that God would going to unite Jew and Greek into one body, the church.
and all knowledge -- Knowledge and understanding of God’s truth.
Faith -- supernatural faith, cf. 1 Corinthians 12:9.
so that I could remove mountains -- A quotation of words recorded in Matthew 17:20; Matthew 21:21. Whether Matthew’s Gospel were already written or not, these words had reached St Paul, and this must be regarded as a confirmation of the truth of the Gospel narrative.
It is remarkable that they appear in a different form in St Luke (Luke 17:6).
Verse 4
1 Corinthians 13:4
Vaunteth not itself -- "does not parade itself"
Verse 9
1 Corinthians 13:9
Part -- God’s revelation was not given in totality with one prophecy.
Verse 10
1 Corinthians 13:10
Perfect -- (teleion ) Maturity of revelation (nominative/accusative, neuter, singular) James 1:25
(When the Christian age would come to the maturity of full revelation from God, then all the supernatural gifts would cease to be of the benefit for which they were given.

Verse 11
1 Corinthians 13:11
