Overzicht van de brief
De indeling van de brief is vrij eenvoudig:
1. Inleiding Galaten 1:1-5
2. Geschiedkundig deel Galaten 1:6-2:21
In dit deel verklaart Paulus de oorsprong van het evangelie dat hij predikt, zijn roeping en zijn verhouding tot de broeders in Jeruzalem en Petrus.
3. Leerstellig deel Galaten 3:1-4:31
In dit deel verklaart hij het onderscheid tussen gerechtigheid uit geloof en gerechtigheid door de wet; ook verklaart hij de betekenis van de wet.
4. Praktisch deel Galaten 5:1-6:10
5. In dit deel gaat hij in op de kenmerken van het nieuwe leven en hoe dat in het leven van de gelovige zichtbaar wordt.
6. Besluit Galaten 6:11-18
