Song of Solomon 6

Verses 1-13

1. Intro:
   1. Veteran’s Day:
   2. We left off with a question posed to the Shulamite from the daughters of Jerusalem(5:9), “What’s so special about your beloved?”…She gladly explains about her man!(phys description 5:10-16)
      1. Now we’ll deal with the question. “Where….”(6:1)
         1. “Oh where, oh where has your little hunk gone…”

2. LOOKING FOR HER 1^ST LOVE! (1)
   1. “That we may seek him with you” – It is great when those around you want to seek Him (Jesus) also!
      1. Paul, to the Athenians at Mars Hill said, "so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us, "for in Him we live and move and have our being,” (Acts17:27,28)
      2. Jeremiah said, Lam. 3:25 “The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him.”
      3. Whoever seeks Him will find Him! – And they did(2)!
3. FINDING HER 1^ST LOVE! (2,3)
   1. She answers where he is (2), but as her heart draws closer toward him, she finds him emotionally as well (3)!
   2. (3) Compare:
      1. 6:3 “I am my beloved's, And my beloved is mine.” (I’m His, He’s mine)
      2. 2:16 “My beloved is mine, and I am his.” (He’s mine, I’m His)
      3. 7:10 “I am my beloved's, And his desire is toward me.” (I’m His, & He desires me)
4. FEELING LOVE FROM HER 1^ST LOVE! (4-10)
   1. ​​​​​​​Now men, be honest, how would you feel, with the earlier rejection, what would be your response?
      1. Note: He doesn’t say to her, “Woman, where were you when I knocked?”
      2. No, he said, “Woman…you’re a babe!”
   2. “Tirzah” – City N.E. of the city of Samaria.
      1. It was the capital of the N. Kingdom till the time of Omri.
      2. Obviously a beautiful place.
      3. Not, “baby you look like Vegas!”, but, “Honey you like Yosemite in the Spring!”
   3. (4b) “Army of banners” – Picture an army in perfect formation with their colors flying high…Impressive beauty!
   4. (5) Overwhelmed by her looks.
   5. (10) what a love he has for her(as does Jesus for us!)

      2. Perspective on Life! – “looks for the morning”
      3. Lam.2:23 – Praise God for “new days!” – We mess things up so much in 24 hours we need afresh start every 24 hours.
      4. Praise God we don’t live on Mercury – it takes 58.7 of our days for one rotation of that planet. It spins only 1 & ½ times per revolution around the sun.
      5. Q: How’s your perspective on life right now? – What’s your perspective on life right now?
      6. Purpose for Life! – “fair as the moon”
      7. He is the light of the world – We are the light of the world.
      8. Explanation? – Moon to sun – we reflect his light & love into this dark, doomed & dying world.
         1. How would we “shine” if the world wasn’t dark?
      9. The moon goes through different stages (1/2 moon, crescent, no moon) Why? When planet earth gets in between the sun & the moon.
         1. So too when “the world” gets in between us & the SON!
      10. Our light can only shine to the degree that we remain in fellowship w/Him!
      11. Stay in His fellowship & you will “light up a dark world” & you’ll find “your own life will be illuminated”!
      12. Purity through life! – “clear as the sun”
      13. In the worlds eyes we are simply the moon reflecting the sun – In His eyes we are as bright as the sun! – He sees us as part o him!
      14. Clear? = Pure. The sun burns over a million tons of mass every second (& so he does in our life!)
      15. Power in Life! – “awesome as an army w/banners”
      16. What type of banner? 2:4 “of love”
      17. We shouldn’t be flying the banner of militancy, nor the banner of hypocritical judgement, nor the banner of condemning society.
      18. We should be flying the banner of love…not some mushy love! – no the love that died in our place, the love that paid for our sins, the love that freed us from wrath, the love from above…Jesus Christ!
      19. Having this Love gives us the Right Perspective, the right Purpose, the right Purity, & the right Power in life!
5. RESPONDING TO HER 1^ST LOVE! (11-13)
   1. ​​​​​​​(11) Have you ever felt like this when you walk away from some meetings,…“That you just went down to the garden of nuts”?
      1. Prophetic…read B-day card.
   2. Reconciliation takes place by going to the person & makig htings right.
      1. Go back to the place where you left Him.
      2. Read - Gen.13:31-5
      3. What other verse comes to mind about “going back to that 1^st place…”
      4. Church of Ephesus - Rev.2:4,5 "Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place; unless you repent.”
   3. (12) Ammi-nadib – “my princely people”
      1. “as the chariots of my noble people” – Proverbial for swift driving!(JFB)
         1. She was swiftly borne in a moment in to his presence! (as were we)
         2. Eph.2:5,6 “even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,”
         3. She felt raptured up, caught up like royal chariots carrying her into glory!
   4. (13) Meet the beloved in His garden & you will find people staring at you!
   5. “the dance of the 2 camps” – {ma-ha-naim}
      1. Mahanaim was located on the boundary of the tribe of Gad, not far from the river Jordan.
         1. Must have been a well-known dance.
         2. This place was named in Gen.32:2 by Jacob after seeing “the angels of God”.
         3. There was 2 camps, his own, & the angels were camping there also.
      2. She is seen as “one”(9) yet she is “2”!
         1. We also are seen as one(the church) but we are 2. There is an invisible host that helps us! Jesus & His angelic army! (Are they(angels) not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? Heb.1:14)
         2. Wow angelic armies on our side. Better yet their Leader Jesus Christ God almighty on our side. “If God is for us who can be against us?” Rom.8:31…& if they are…who cares?
