David said, "Lord God , why am I so important to you? Why is my family important? Why have you made me so important? 18 Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and said, "Who am I, O Lord God , and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far? 18Then King David went in and sat [in prayer] before the LORD, and said, "Who am I, O Lord GOD, and what is my house (family), that You have brought me this far? 18 Then David the king went in, and sat before Jehovah; and he said, Who am I, O Lord Jehovah, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me thus far? 18 Then David the king went in and took his seat before the Lord, and said, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my family, that you have been my guide till now? 18 David went into the tent he had set up for the sacred chest. Then he sat there and prayed: Lord All-Powerful, my family and I don't deserve what you have already done for us, 18 Then David went in, sat before Adonai and said, "Who am I, Adonai Elohim ; and what is my family, that has caused you to bring me this far? 18 Then David the king went in, and sat before the LORD; and he said: 'Who am I, O Lord GOD, and what is my house, that Thou hast brought me thus far?

Gill's Notes on the Bible

For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel [to be] a people unto thee for ever,.... So long as they were obedient to him, and observed his laws and statutes, and abode by his worship and ordinances, otherwise he would write a "loammi" on them, as he has, see Hosea 1:9;

and thou, Lord, art become their God; their covenant God, they having avouched him to be their God, and he having avouched them to be his people, Deuteronomy 26:17.
