Bible Verse Review
from Treasury of Scripure Knowledge
Jarmuth: This seems to be the same city with Remeth, Joshua 10:19, Joshua 10:21, and Ramoth, 1 Chronicles 6:73, mentioned with Engannim. Joshua 10:3, Joshua 10:23, Joshua 12:11
Reciprocal: Joshua 19:21 - Engannim 1 Chronicles 6:72 - Daberath
Gill's Notes on the Bible
Jarmuth with her suburbs,.... Called Ramoth, 1 Chronicles 6:73; very probably the same with Remeth, Joshua 19:21;
Engannim with her suburbs; called Anem, 1 Chronicles 6:73;
four cities; so many are mentioned by name.
Barnes' Notes on the Bible
Compare Joshua 19:18, etc. Of the cities of the Gershonites, for Beesh-terah read (Beeshterah.) The name is a contraction of Beth-Ashterah (“house of Ashterah”) and the city is undoubtedly the Ashtaroth or Astaroth of Og Joshua 12:4; Deu 1:4; 1 Chronicles 6:71.
