Barnes' Notes on the Bible
We may be allowed to conjecture that Jeremiah, in gratitude for Ahikamâs service to himself Jeremiah 26:24, recommended his son Gedaliah to Nebuzaradan, and through him to Nebuchadnezzar, for the office of governor.
Clarke's Notes on the Bible
Verse 2 Kings 25:22. Made Gedaliah - ruler. — This was no regal dignity; he was only a sort of hind or overseer, appointed to regulate the husbandmen.
