και ως εγενετο ημερα συνηχθη το πρεσβυτεριον του λαου αρχιερεις και γραμματεις και ανηγαγον αυτον εις το συνεδριον αυτων λεγοντες
Καὶ ὡς ἐγένετο ἡμέρα, συνήχθη τὸ πρεσβυτέριον τοῦ λαοῦ, ἀρχιερεῖς ⸀τε καὶ γραμματεῖς, καὶ ⸀ἀπήγαγον αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ συνέδριον αὐτῶν,
Καὶ ὡς ἐγένετο ἡμέρα, συνήχθη τὸ πρεσβυτέριον τοῦ λαοῦ, ἀρχιερεῖς τε καὶ γραμματεῖς, καὶ ἀπήγαγον αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ συνέδριον αὐτῶν, λέγοντες· εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ Χριστός, εἰπὸν ἡμῖν.

The elders of the people; or "the presbytery of the people", that were chosen from among the people to sit in the sanhedrim; the Israelites, as distinct from priests and Levites, and the doctors:
and the chief priests and the Scribes came together; which made up the great sanhedrim, or council of the nation:
and led him into their council; or sanhedrim, the place where the sanhedrim sat, which was in the temple, and in the chamber called
×ש×ת ××××ת, "the paved stone chamber" n; here they usually met, and so the Persic version renders it, "where their congregation was daily there".
