In solemn truth I tell you that no sign will be given to the men of to-day." ¹³ So He left them, went on board again, and came away to the other side. ¹⁴ Now they had forgotten to take bread, nor had they more than a single loaf with them in the boat; ¹⁵ and when He admonished them, "See to it, be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod," ¹⁶ they explained His words to one another by saying, "We have no bread!" ¹⁷ He perceived what they were saying, and He said to them, "What is this discussion of yours about having no bread? Dalmanutha: Dalmanutha is supposed to have been a town east of the sea of Gennesaret, in the district of Magdala, and not far from the city of that name.

And straightway he entered into a ship, with his disciples,.... As soon as ever he had, dismissed the multitude, he took shipping with his disciples; for he was at the sea of Galilee, either at a place near it, or upon the shore of it; see Mark 7:31;

and came into the parts of Dalmanutha; which Matthew calls, "the coasts of Magdala"; Mark 7:31- :. The Arabic version reads it, "Magdal"; and in two of Beza's copies it is read, "Madegada"; but the Syriac version reads, "Dalmanutha"; and the Persic, "Dalmanuth"; and the Ethiopic, "Dalmathy": it was a city in the coasts of Magdala, and is thought by Dr. Lightfoot to be the same with Tzalmon, or Salmon, a place often mentioned f in the Jewish writings.
