Romans 14

Breeding Good Relationships

1 Quit arguing with those with a weaker faith than you. 2 Let me explain, one might think it's okay to eat anything and another is a vegan. 3 You worry about you and let others make their own decisions. Quit condemning others because they don't act like you do, this goes both ways. God accepts all kinds based on their heart. 4 Who are you to condemn another ranch's hands? The Boss will judge whether they ride through the gate or get yard-darted before they get there. If they're following the Lord, they'll make it.

5 Quit bickering over which day is holy. You do what you feel God has led you to do and let that be enough. Again, you worry about you. 6 If they are honoring the Lord, he doesn't really care what day it is on the calendar. If two people honor the Lord with two different diets, that's okay too. 7 We don't live or die for ourselves, but for our Lord. 8 We live to honor God. We die to honor God. So, it doesn't matter whether we are living or dying, to it all for the Lord. 9 Jesus died and rose again for this very matter—to be the Lord of both the living and the dead.

10 So why do you keep quarreling with others who ride for God? What gives you the right to look down your nose at them? We will all stand in front of the Boss one day to be judged. 11 The Good Book says, "'As much as I am alive, every soul will bend the knee and every mouth shall pledge themselves to me,' says the Lord."

12 Ain't nobody going to be standing there making excuses for your life in front of God. 13 Don't get caught with your pants down over petty squabbling. Ride in a way that you don't get others bucked off.

14 I'm a hundred percent positive the Lord doesn't care what you eat. But if one person thinks it's wrong to eat something, then it is wrong for them to eat it. 15 If someone thinks it's wrong to eat something, don't try to serve it to them. That ain't loving 'em. Don't let something as good as food turn y'all against each other. Christ died for both of y'all. 16 You'll be blameless if you act this way. 17 God's outfit is not about what you eat or drink, but living the honorable life of a cowboy who rides for the brand. You live this way by following the Holy Spirit. 18 Ride for Christ with an attitude like this and God will be pleased. Not only that, but you'll gain the respect of others. 19 Ride as one and help each other out in order to build the crew up.

20 Don't tear the crew apart over beans or bacon. They are both fine as long as it doesn't cause another man to fall from the saddle. 21 It is better to stay away from meat or wine if it causes the other person to question their beliefs. 22 You can do that later on your own as long as you don't go overboard with either, but keep it between yourself and God. Don't feel guilty about doing something you feel is right as long as it doesn't harm others in your vicinity. 23 But a word of caution, if you're unsure whether or not something is wrong, stay away from it. It would be a sin then. You do what God leads you to do. If you do anything you don't believe is right then that is sin.
