Revelation 8

The Lamb Tears Open the Seventh Seal

1 When the Lamb tore open the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about thirty minutes. 2 Seven angels of the Lord were given seven bugles.

3 Another angel had what looked like a lantern with smoldering coals in it. He strode up to the throne and was given something to add to the smoldering fire within the lantern. 4 The smoke started to rise from the golden lantern and it wafted along with the prayers from all of God's cowboys that other angels delivered to the throne. 5 Then the angel with the golden lantern filled it with fresh fire from the altar and slung it down upon the earth. Thunder crashed and lightning flashed as the ground shook.

The Bugles

6 Then the seven angels with the seven bugles took a deep breath.

7 The first angel blew his bugle. Hail and fire made of blood struck the earth. A third of everything on the earth perished.

8 Then the second angel blew his bugle. A huge mountain of flame descended from the heavens and struck the ocean. 9 A third of the sea was turned to blood and the fire killed a third of the inhabitants who lived there. One out of three ships on the oceans were destroyed instantly.

10 Then the third angel took his turn. Something like a star dropped out of the sky and struck a third of the rivers and springs. 11 The star was called Bitterness. A third of the rivers and springs became unusable and unable to sustain life. The waters turned bitter and people died from drinking it.

12 Then the fourth angel let loose his bugle call. A third of the sun, moon, and stars went dark. There was no light for a third of the day and a third of the night.

13 Then I spotted an eagle on the wing. It flew high and mighty and cried out in a loud voice, "Doom! Pain! Horror! How terrible it will be for all who ride when the last three angels let loose their bugle cry!"
