Contextual Overview
30Leaving that part of the country, Jesus and his cowboys rode through the area known as Galilee, but he didn't want anyone to know he was there. Jesus wanted as much time alone with his cowboys as he could get so he could
31teach 'em all they would need to know. He told them, "God's Top Hand is going to be double-crossed and handed over to his enemies. They're going to kill him, but he's going to come back from the dead three days later."
32None of his cowboys really knew what he was talking about and they were too chicken to ask him.
33They arrived at Capernaum one evening and as they settled in for the night, Jesus asked his cowboys what they had been discussing on the ride over.
34None of 'em wanted to say anything because they had all been arguing about which of 'em was the best hand.
35He told 'em all to gather 'round, for he had known all along what they had been saying. Jesus said, "Whoever wants to be the top hand in my outfit has to be willing to ride drag and let everyone else go in front of him."
36He called a little kid over to him who had been playing nearby. He put the little one on his knee and said,
37"Whoever is willing to care for the little ones of this world is the one who rides for me. More importantly, he rides for my Dad."
38John piped up and said, "Boss, we saw a guy just the other day who was getting rid of evil spirits by using your name. We stopped him because he didn't ride with us."
39Jesus put a stop to that foolishness at once, "Why'd you stop him? Ain't no one can use my name for good things and then in the next breath say something bad about me.
