2 Thessalonians 2

The Devil's Son

1 I want to talk to y'all about the time when Jesus comes back and we finally get to ride with him in person. 2 Don't let those who say Jesus has already came back get under your skin. Believe me, he's coming back to get us. 3 Don't let anyone pull the wool over your eyes. Jesus won't come riding back until the devil's son has been revealed, the one destined for destruction by God. 4 You'll know him because he will make himself an enemy of God by claiming he is the one who is to be worshipped. He'll even put a throne in God's house, proclaiming himself to be God.

5 But none of this is anything I haven't already told you. 6 And now you know Jesus is just waiting for the devil's son to reveal himself so God can prove who is really the boss and has the power. The time has to be right. There'll be no rushing God's plan. 7 But this outlaw is already at work, even if he hasn't made himself known. 8 One day, all these covert plans will be unveiled and then Jesus will come back in the same manner. But the fight will have already been won. Darkness has already been defeated, whether anyone realizes it or not. Jesus will not win with a quick draw or the strength of his right arm, but with the breath of his mouth and the power of his word.

9 The devil's son will come to do the work of his father, Satan. He'll use sleight of hand to do miracles, signs, and wonders. But it's all counterfeit. 10 He will amaze the fools and they'll follow him like pigs to the slaughter. These pigs are those who refuse to believe the truth of who can save them. 11 God won't stand in the way of their delusional fantasies. They'll believe the lies 12 and be slaughtered for not believing the truth, but delight in wickedness.

Sit Tall in the Saddle

13 That's why we thank God for y'all who are cherished by God. God has chosen y'all to be the first to ride for his brand and the first to be saved by the truth. 14 He invited y'all to join his outfit through our story. But you don't just get to ride for God, you get to share in the glory of Jesus Christ and what he has done.

15 So sit tall in the saddle my friends. Tie hard and fast to the truth that we taught y'all. It doesn't matter if you heard it straight from us or by letter. The truth is the truth and you should believe it.

16 May the Lord, and his Father who loves us, give you hope and encouragement to continue your ride. 17 Keep your toes out and your chins up as you do God's good works and spread his good word.
