The Life of the Word

¹ We are here to tell you the story of the Word of Life. It existed when nothing existed. We've seen it with our own eyes, heard it with our own ears, and touched it with our own hands. ² When this life showed itself to the world, we were right there. We were eyewitnesses to the glory, not bards or poets with fantastical tales of whim and fancy. We are here to tell you about the eternal life which is offered by the Father and made known to us. ³ We tell you what we have seen and heard so that you will join us in the crew that rides for the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. ⁴ This is what your life has longed for and your participation is what our life longs for.

The Light

⁵ This is what the Son told us about his Father. God is light and there is no darkness in him at all. ⁶ So then, if we say we ride in his crew, but we ride in darkness, then we are counterfeits in word and deed. ⁷ But if we ride in the light, because he is the light, then we all belong to the same crew with one another. The blood of the Son unites and cleanses us all of our sins.

⁸ If we say we don't have any sin, then we are nothing but liars and no truth resides in us at all. ⁹ But if we admit our sins to God, he will do what he said he would and forgive us and pardon us of all wrongdoing. ¹⁰ If we claim we have not sinned, then we are calling God a liar because he said we are all sinners. To make this claim proves we do not ride for Him.
