Simplified Cowboy Version
1 Corinthians 13
A Top Hand Loves
1 If I could speak every language on earth and even knew how to speak the angel's tongue, but I didn't have love . . . then I'm just yappin' like a coyote in the desert.
2 If I had the power of God, could speak mighty words with supernatural knowledge, and had faith that could make mountains march, but if I didn't show love to others, I'm worthless. 3 If I gave all my tack, horses, bits, and bridles, and everything else to the poor and even sacrificed my body to be burned up, I would be able to brag about it; but if I didn't love others, I have done nothing in God's eyes.4 Love is kind and never gets in a rush. Love ain't jealous, arrogant, or proud.
5 Love ain't rude, selfish, nor does it fly off the handle. Love don't keep a tally book of wrongs against it. 6 Love don't condone injustice, but celebrates truth. 7 Love never gives up, always gets back on, never turns loose of faith, is forever hopeful, and never, ever, quits.8 Preaching, prophecy, and even praying in tongues will one day be useless, but love is forever.
9 We don't know everything, and even prophecy reveals only so much, 10 but when we are made perfect, these other things won't be needed.11 When I was just a little tike, I acted like a little tike. But when I grew up, I quit acting like a child.
12 Right now it's like we are looking at God in a dirty mirror, but one day everything will be washed away and we will see him clearly. We can't see the whole trail right now, but one day we will reach the end and God will be there to show us everything.13 There's a lot of stuff that will end up tromped in the dirt, but these three things will endure forever: faith, hope, and love. And the best of 'em is love.
