"If men quarrel and one strikes the other with a stone, or with his fist, and he doesn't die, but is confined to bed;
And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:
"‘And if men quarrel and a man strikes his neighbor with a stone or with a fist and he does not die, but he is confined to bed,
"If two men argue, and one hits the other with a rock or with his fist, the one who is hurt but not killed might have to stay in bed.
"If men fight, and one strikes his neighbor with a stone or with his fist and he does not die, but must remain in bed,
"If men quarrel and one strikes another with a stone or with his fist, and he does not die but is confined to bed,
"Now if people have a quarrel and one strikes the other with a stone or with a fist, and he does not die but is confined to bed,
When men also striue together, and one smite another with a stone, or with the fist, and he die not, but lieth in bed,
"And if men contend with each other and one strikes the other with a stone or with his fist, and he does not die but remains in bed,
Suppose two of you are arguing, and you hit the other with either a rock or your fist, without causing a fatal injury. If the victim has to stay in bed,
"If two people fight, and one hits the other with a stone or with his fist, and the injured party doesn't die but is confined to his bed;
And if men dispute, and one strike the other with a stone, or with the fist, and he die not, but take to [his] bed,
"Two men might argue and one might hit the other with a rock or with his fist. If the man who was hurt is not killed, the man who hurt him should not be killed.
"When men quarrel and one strikes the other with a stone or with his fist and the man does not die but takes to his bed,
And if two men quarrel, and one strikes another with a stone or with his fist, and he does not die but is put to bed from the injury:
"If there is a fight and someone hits someone else with a stone or with his fist, but does not kill him, he is not to be punished. If the one who was hit has to stay in bed, but later is able to get up and walk outside with the help of a cane, the one who hit him is to pay for his lost time and take care of him until he gets well.
“When men quarrel and one strikes the other with a stone or his fist, and the injured man does not die but is confined to bed,
And when men strive, and one strikes his neighbor with a stone, or with a fist, and he does not die, but falls on his bed,
Yf men stryue together and one smyte another with a stone, or with his fist, so that he dye not, but lyeth in bedd:

"If a quarrel breaks out and one hits the other with a rock or a fist and the injured one doesn't die but is confined to bed and then later gets better and can get about on a crutch, the one who hit him is in the clear, except to pay for the loss of time and make sure of complete recovery.

And if men strive together,.... Quarrel and fight, and wrestle with and box one another:
and one smite another with a stone; which lying near him he might take up, and in his passion throw it at his antagonist:
or with his fist; with his double fist, as we express it, with his hand closed, that it might come with the greater force, and give the greater blow:
and he die not, but keepeth his bed; does not die with the blow of the stone or fist, yet receives so much damage by it that he is obliged to take to his bed; or, as the Targum of Jerusalem paraphrases it, is cast on the bed sick; or, as the Targum of Jonathan, falls into a disease, as a fever, or the like, through the force of the blow, so that he is confined to his room and to his bed.
