Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came up and questioned him:
Then came to him certaine of the Sadduces (which denie that there is any resurrection) and they asked him,
Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
There came to him some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection,
Now some of the Sadducees (who maintain that there is no resurrection) came to Him,

The Sadducees did not believe that people would rise to life after death. So some of them came to Jesus
Some Tz'dukim, who say there is no resurrection, came to Yeshua
And some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is any resurrection, coming up [to him],
Some Sadducees came to Jesus. (Sadducees believe that people will not rise from death.) They asked him,
Then came to him certaine of the Sadduces (which denie that there is any resurrection) and they asked him,
Then came to him some of the men of the Sadducees, those who say there is no resurrection; and they asked him,
Then some Sadducees, who say that people will not rise from death, came to Jesus and said,
Now some of the Sadducees—who deny that there is a resurrection—came up and asked him,
And some of the Sadducees coming up, those speaking against a resurrection, that it was not to be, they questioned Him,
And there came to him certain of the Sadducees, they that say that there is no resurrection;
And some of the Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no coming back from the dead; and they said to him,
Some of the Tzedukim came to him, those who deny that there is a resurrection.
Now some Sadducees, who claim there is no resurrection, came to Jesushim">[fn]Matthew 22:23; Mark 12:18; Acts 23:6,8;">[xr]
BUT some of the Zadukoyee approached, they who say that there is no resurrection;
And some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came and questioned him,
Then came to hym certayne of the saducees, which denie that there is any resurrection, and they asked hym,
And there came to him certain of the Sadducees, they which say that there is no resurrection; and they asked him,
Some of the Sadducees came to him, those who deny that there is a resurrection.
Then certain of the Saducees, who deny there is any resurrection, coming to him asked him,
Next some of the Sadducees came forward (who deny that there is a Resurrection), and they asked Him,

Then Jesus was approached by some Sadducees—religious leaders who say there is no resurrection from the dead.
Some people from the religious group who believe no one will be raised from the dead came to Jesus. They asked Him,
Some Sadducees, those who say there is no resurrection, came to him
But there came near certain of the Sadducees, they who say, Resurrection, there is none! and questioned him,
And there came to him some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is any resurrection: and they asked him,
There came to him some Sadducees, those who say that there is no resurrection,
Then came to him certayne of the Saduces which denye that ther is eny resurreccio. And they axed him
And certain of the Sadducees, who are denying that there is a rising again, having come near, questioned him,
Then came vnto him certayne of the Saduces (which holde that there is no resurreccion) and axed him,
Afterwards some of the Pharisees, who deny there is any resurrection, accosted him with this question,
Some Sadducees came up. This is the Jewish party that denies any possibility of resurrection. They asked, "Teacher, Moses wrote us that if a man dies and leaves a wife but no child, his brother is obligated to take the widow to wife and get her with child. Well, there once were seven brothers. The first took a wife. He died childless. The second married her and died, then the third, and eventually all seven had their turn, but no child. After all that, the wife died. That wife, now—in the resurrection whose wife is she? All seven married her."
Then a group of people called the Sadducees came to talk to Jesus. They were religious leaders who did not believe in life after death.

Ver. 27 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees,.... That is, "to Jesus", as the Persic version expresses it; and it was the same day, as Matthew says, on which the disciples of the Pharisees, and the Herodians, had been with him, putting the question about tribute to him: Matthew 22:16
which deny that there is any resurrection; that is, of the dead; that there ever was any instance of it, or ever will be: this was the distinguishing tenet of that sect; see Acts 23:8
and they asked him, the following question, after they had put a case to him.
