Song of Solomon 2

   |

The Bride's Admiration

1 "I am the (F1)(C1)rose of (C2)Sharon,
The (C3)lily of the valleys."

The Groom

2 "Like a lily among the thorns,
So is (C1)my darling among the (F1)young women."

The Bride

3 "Like an (C1)apple tree among the trees of the forest,
So is my beloved among the (F1)young men.
In his shade I took great delight and sat down,
And his (C2)fruit was sweet to my (F2)taste.

4 "He has (C1)brought me to his (F1)banquet hall,
And his (C2)banner over me is love.

5 "Refresh me with (C1)raisin cakes,
Sustain me with (C2)apples,
Because (C3)I am lovesick.

6 "(C1)His left hand is under my head,
And (C1)his right hand (C2)embraces me."

The Groom

7 "(C1)Swear to me, you (C2)daughters of Jerusalem,
By the (C3)gazelles or by the (C4)does of the field,
(C1)That you will not disturb or awaken my love
Until she pleases."

The Bride

8 "Listen! My beloved!
Behold, he is coming,
Leaping (C1)on the mountains,
Jumping on the hills!

9 "My beloved is like a (C1)gazelle or a (C2)young (F1)stag.
Behold, he is standing behind our wall,
He is looking through the windows,
He is peering (C3)through the lattice.

10 "My beloved responded and said to me,
'(C1)Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along.

11 'For behold, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone.

12 'The blossoms have already appeared in the land;
The time has arrived for (F1)pruning the vines,
And the voice of the (C1)turtledove has been heard in our land.

13 'The (C1)fig tree has ripened its fruit,
And the (C2)vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance.
Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along!'"

The Groom

14 "(C1)My dove, (C2)in the clefts of the (F1)rock,
In the hiding place of the mountain pathway,
Let me see (F2)how you look,
(C3)Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is pleasant,
And (F2)you look (C4)delightful."

The Chorus

15 "(C1)Catch the (F1)foxes for us,
The (F2)little (F1)foxes that are ruining the vineyards,
While our (C2)vineyards are in blossom."

The Bride

16 "(C1)My beloved is mine, and I am his;
He (C2)pastures his flock among the lilies.

17 "(C1)Until the cool of the day, when the shadows flee,
Turn, my beloved, and be like a (C2)gazelle
Or a young stag (C3)on the mountains of (F1)Bether."
