Jonah 2
Jonah's Prayer
1 (F1)Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God (C1)from the stomach of the fish,2 and he said,
"I (C1)called out of my distress to the LORD,
And He answered me.
I called for help from the (F1)depth of (C2)Sheol;
You heard my voice.
3 "For You (C1)threw me into the deep,
Into the heart of the seas,
And the current flowed around me.
All Your (C2)breakers and waves passed over me.
4 "So I said, 'I have been (C1)cast out (F1)of Your sight.
Nevertheless I will look again (C2)toward Your holy temple.'
5 "(C1)Water encompassed me to the (F1)point of death.
The (C2)deep flowed around me,
Seaweed was wrapped around my head.
6 "I (C1)descended to the base of the mountains.
The earth with its (C2)bars was around me forever,
But You have (C3)brought up my life from (F1)the pit, LORD my God.
7 "While (F1)I was (C1)fainting away,
I (C2)remembered the LORD,
And my (C3)prayer came to You,
Into (C4)Your holy temple.
8 "Those who (C1)are followers of worthless (F1)idols
Abandon their faithfulness,
9 But I will (C1)sacrifice to You
With a voice of thanksgiving.
That which I have vowed I will (C2)pay.
(C3)Salvation is from the LORD."
10 Then the LORD commanded the (C1)fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.
