Then cause her to know all her abominations.3 "You shall say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "A city shedding blood in her midst, so that her time will come, and that makes idols, contrary to her interest, for defilement! 4 "You have become guilty by the blood which you have shed, and defiled by your idols which you have made. Thus you have brought your day near and have come to your years; therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations and a mocking to all the lands. 5 "Those who are near and those who are far from you will mock you, you of ill repute, full of turmoil. 6 "Behold, the rulers of Israel, each according to his power, have been in you for the purpose of shedding blood. 7 "They have treated father and mother lightly within you. The alien they have oppressed in your midst; the fatherless and the widow they have wronged in you. 8 "You have despised My holy things and profaned My sabbaths. 9 "Slanderous men have been in you for the purpose of shedding blood, and in you they have eaten at the mountain shrines. In your midst they have committed acts of lewdness. 10 "In you they have uncovered their fathers' nakedness; in you they have humbled her who was unclean in her menstrual impurity.

Gill's Notes on the Bible

Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city?.... Or, "city of bloods" y? the city of Jerusalem, in which was shed the blood of the prophets sent unto her; the doubling of the word denotes the vehemency with which it was expressed: wilt thou plead for and excuse such a city as this? surely no; so some: or wilt thou do thy work and office as a prophet? hast thou courage enough to do it? will thou rebuke and reprove? as the Targum; wilt thou examine her case, judge truly, and condemn her, as thou oughtest to do? hast thou an inclination to take this affair in hand? then be directed to it, as follows:

yea, thou shalt show her all her abominations; lay them before her; convict her of them; show her the evil of them, and the punishment they deserve; every kind of sin she was guilty of; for, as for particular acts, it was impossible to reckon them; those sins that were the most flagrant, and most frequently committed, and which were abominable to the Lord, and rendered her so in his sight, are intended.

y את עיר דמים "civitatem sanguinum", V. L. Munster, Montanus.

Clarke's Notes on the Bible

Verse Ezekiel 22:2. Wilt thou judge the bloody city — Pronounce the sentence of death against the murderers.

Show her all her abominations. — And a most revolting and dreadful catalogue of these is in consequence exhibited.
